Hierarchical Representations for Mosaic-Based Video Compression

چکیده
Mosaic images combine information from many video frames into a coherent view of the world observed by a moving camera. They are the basis of a complete and eecient representation of video information, which facilitates its compression and utilization. In mosaic-based compression (MBC), predictions from mosaic images serve to reduce redundancy in the video data. The temporal pyramid of mosaics is a hierarchical representation suitable for compression by MBC that provides the functional beneets of scalability in space, time, and view. Several kinds of temporal pyramids are described, including multirate MBC which is examined in detail.
